Software & technology company logos
Main logo: Dark Age
Project: Text logo for software development company.

Dark Age Software LogoIf ever there was a design category for which there were no rules, it would be software logos and the development of brand artwork for high-tech companies. Many software companies take a traditional route - simple text and iconic designs that, while visually appealing, don't push any envelopes. Others, like Dark Age (left) are more adventurous, and the client is more open to unorthodox and creative Real Estate Weaselsolutions. Our designers have developed a myriad of different software company logos, and have utilized every style, theme and approach imaginable - this gallery represents a very small sample of our experience in this genre. Typically, software and hi-tech logos tend to be a little trendy, as the client wants to illustrate that they embrace the latest in technology and are at the leading edge of the industry. Fair enough, but it's still a worthwhile exercise to make any logo as timeless as possible - a style that is today's 'fad' is tomorrow's visual cliche (witness the globe and swoosh phenomenon at the turn of the century). Generally speaking, hi-tech companies gravitate towards iconic logos, with sans serif text (though, like all design 'rules', there are exceptions). Clean, graphic and stylized are words one could use to describe the approach that most of our projects take - at least during preliminary concept phases. Like any logo, the artwork for hi-tech and software companies need to work in a practical sense - despite representing leading edge identities, the marks have to work in the old-fashioned world - letterheads, business cards, package design and websites. It takes an experienced designer to make sure that this is the case.

Wired Technologies logo Creative Genius Group Azurn Networks Design
Wired Up Technologies. Rather than a full-blown illustrative logo treatment of a television, our designers took a less literal approach to the central icon in this project. Using a series of shapes, we're able to suggest a TV without cluttering up the design with too much detail. Creative Genius Group. Logos for technology companies don't have to be overly serious, as this jester themed design illustrates. Simple graphic shapes make up the character, while an unorthodox italic serif font and sans serif sub text make up up the company name. Azurn Networks. While generally looked upon as 'tired and dated' a swoosh can still be utilized in a design if used effectively. Case in point - this mark for Azurn Networks which remains effective and timely. Part of a brand system development - see the matching technical graphics and brochure.
AGX Technologies Inet.integrator Spider Gear
AGX Technologies. This extremely simple logo was the result of an extensive design process that started off with some graphics intensive artwork. See how our designers work through a project from concept to completion by viewing the simple text logo case study here. iNet Integrator. A logo for a software application for SAP, NET and Microsoft Office integration. Despite the complexity of the blends and 'gel effects in this logo, it remains a spot colour design and can be reproduced economically. Spider Gear Technology. Iconic representation of a computer network, combined with a font that's a little 'different' took this design into the so-called web 2.0 arena. The drop shadow, fairly popular in this kind of logo, is created in vector artwork, not as an add-on in Photoshop.
Rip Station Think Technology Solutions Moby Memory Tool Kit
Rip Station Software. Decent little design for an MP3 Ripper program. Contains all the elements of the software - music notes and spinning CD - but the elements are understated, allowing the text portion to stand out - especially in low resolution reproduction. Think Solutions. Despite being a simple text logo, careful placement and colouring of the exclamation mark make this a unique brand for a commonly used business name. Using spot colours, our designers can add depth without the cost of four colour printing, Moby Memory Tool Kit. Cartoon style work up for this UK based mobile phone technology specialist. Simple linear treatment makes the design exceptionally versatile without giving up any of the central character personality. One in a series of themed icons.
Exertion Internet Technology Rumble Fish News Reader Software Future Tech Networks
Exterion UK Internet Technologies. Software and technology companies don't need a literal interpretation of their business model. This abstract icon portrays a modern company utilizing leading-edge technology. Italic font adds speed and visual dynamics. Rumblefish News Reader Software. Whimsical fish skeleton makes up the central theme of this logo for a newsreader software product. Rather than a linear illustrative treatment, our designers utilized the negative space of irregular shaped colour fields to create a graphic look. Future Tech Networks. Based in Illinois, Future Tech Networks wanted a design that reflected their core business - setup and maintenance of small business networks. Logo features a lot of details (binary graphics in the orbs) but still reproduces effectively at small sizes.
CIA Hi Tech Solutions Spamooze E-mail Filtering Altra Soft Software Engineering
CIA Solutions. Offbeat design for an Australian IT Security and Forensic Consulting service. Logo features a stylized Men in Black type character and borrows elements from popular culture and Hollywood movie. For more on this project, see our powerpoint slide design examples. Spamooze. A fairly graphic representation of what this Calgary based company actually does - sorting legitimate e-mail from spam. E-mail filtering system developed by Alberta's Soft Elephant. See here for the logo desktop design portion of this project. Altra Soft Engineering Soft Solutions. This 'blast from the past' illustrates the value of a timeless logo. Developed for a Californian software company back in 1996, the design is as relevant now as it was then See the brochure design and CD covers created as part of this extensive branding programme.
