Using a client supplied logo, we created this mouse pad design for laser tag chain Laser Quest over a decade ago, but it still holds up pretty decently. This design was printed four colour process on a rubberized mouse pad (as opposed to using a paper insert with coating) and as such the graphics had to be fairly blocky and forgiving in the registration department. We had to be careful as not to make the laser guns too menacing, and the 'laser beams' in the illustration couldn't be shown actually striking any of the figures. The graphics and theme of the mouse pad were also used on a series of birthday party giveaways - locker magnets and paper pads.

Above - Laser Quest final mouse pad design. Below - Mouse pad concept drawings and illustrations. Most of these were rejected as there was too much emphasis on the laser gun. The final version focuses on the logo, as well as the maze in which participants play.
