You’re already the proud owner of a nifty corporate logo. It’s a great reflection of your company, and it’s philosophies and all is well. But when you take your new logo to a printer, you’re told that it’s not in the correct file format. Or it’s the wrong resolution and you cannot change the image size without massive image degradation. Or perhaps your new logo was created as an RGB bitmap file, and printing your new business cards is going to cost a fortune because you have to use ‘four colour process’ printing even though your logo only features red and black and should be printed as spot colour. Seems you're missing something called an EPS file and your printer advises against lifting the logo from your already printed business card. Your planned launch of your new corporate logo is now in serious jeopardy. Not to worry. Our designers can repair your logo, creating all the file formats you’ll ever need – print, web, and electronic - and supply you with all the digital material required to effectively manage your new brand, consistently and economically. And like all our design services, you can have this done quickly, and economically, without ever leaving your desk. You can view artwork, request revisions and changes, communicate with our designers and download final files - all from your client page on our website.
Don't start over. Repair your logo
Why should you pay a graphic design firm (including ours) to create your logo from scratch, when it's already designed? All need is someone who knows what they're doing to create the correct file formats. To this end, we offer our logo repair service - a process that sees our technically proficient designers use their skills to re-render your tatty old logo into a variety of professional file formats that are ready to use in traditional print or on the web. As there's little conceptual time involved, you can have your logo repaired for much less than you'd pay for one of our custom logo design packages. We offer three levels of service based on the kind of material you can supply us - be it digital images (GIFs or JPGs), 'hard copies' featuring printed versions of your logo, or even sketches and the time honored napkin doodle. How much does logo repair cost? That all depends of several factors - how fast you need your logo and the complexity of the original we're working from. All our logo repair packages give you the print and web ready files you'll need to utilize your logo on the widest range of media, in traditional printing and on the web.
How logo repair works
To repair your logo, our designers take your ‘diamond in the rough’ artwork - be it blurry digital images or a hard copy printed version - and clean it up manually using vector-based software to create a vector based source file. As we're logo perfectionists at our studio, we opt for hand rendering each and every time - while tracing 'by hand' takes longer than automatic solutions, we've always found 'auto-trace' software to be unpredictable and unable to create 'clean' files. Once we have this vector based version of your logo, we can create any bitmap based image at any size, and any resolution. Vector files can also be used for print (see here for appropriate logo formats), and can be set up for economical spot colour printing. While we're building these new files, our designers will also be able to make minor revisions and changes to your logo without any additional charge. The artwork will be posted on our client only Factory Floor, where you can login to make sure the repaired version is up to your standards, and that any changes are to your satisfaction. Once you're approved the repair, our designers will then created properly formatted colour palettes for electronic and web use. They'll also set up a file format 'bundle' so that you'll have the proper file formats whenever you need them. These file formats are 'industry standard' so you'll be able to work with any vendor on your print and design projects without worrying about the quality of the final printed product. Once the formats of your logo have been created, we'll make everything available for download from your client page. More details on how the repair process works, see our anatomy of a logo repair page. Our Complex Logo Repair also features an upgraded full file format bundle so you'll have more selection when it comes to using your newly cleaned-up logo in your marketing and branding efforts.

Getting started - what we'll need
In order to determine whether your logo repair would be a basic or complex project, we'll need to take a look at what we'll have to work from. You can send us your artwork by the methods listed below. While the version you send us won't be perfect (or you wouldn't need a logo repair in the first place), the better quality we're working from, the better chance we have of restoring the design to its former glory.
FAX
If you have a pre-printed version of your logo, or doodles you need rendered into professional formats, you can FAX them our studio. See our contact page for information.
Upload or e-mail
If you have a bitmap version of your logo, you can upload it to our website or e-mail it to our studios. Feel free to contact us, and we'll tell you what to do.
Website address
If you have a website, and the largest version of your logo is already included, you can simply send us an e-mail and we'll take a look.
When you're ready to order a logo repair, simply fill in the submission form, along with any design changes you require and submit payment. Our designers will do the rest.

Our logo repair services - what's included
Once we've finished 'cleaning up' your logo, our design repair includes all the necessary files required to use your mark in a wide range of applications and media. You'll receive web ready formats, as well as traditional commercial printing formats. We'll also supply you with file formats that can be imported into your own office software applications, so you can add your repaired logo to internally printed material.
With our Basic Logo Repair package, you'll receive professionally rendered logo formats set up as follows:

EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) & AI File Formats
These files are the required VECTOR based source files of ANY logo. This is a editable and scalable version of your repaired logo from which anyone can create all other formats and image types. Use of this file generally requires a VECTOR based software (Adobe Illustrator is the choice of TLF designers). This file format has any PMS (Pantone) or CMYK values embedded so this is the file that your print shop will require. We consider this to be a professional file - one that requires a little knowledge and/or software to access.

JPG File Formats
Industry standard for the distribution of high-quality images, while still remaining small enough in file size for bandwidth and download speed concerns. This is the source file for PIXEL based images. Can be either CMYK or RGB (more CMYK friendly .TIF is suggested if working with PIXEL based images for offset printing). Can be multiple resolutions from 300 (print production and/or special FX) to 72 dpi (web site and other electronic reproduction). Generally larger file size than GIFs but true colour accuracy when colours are outside the 216 web-safe range. Cannot have transparent backgrounds on web sites, but can be converted to .PNG for import into Flash.

GIF File Formats
In order to reduce file sizes on the web, image files require file 'optimization' to reduce the number of colours to a web-safe 216 (though your designer may use a 256 colour palette). These files are then re-saved as GIFs and are almost exclusively for web site usage. If your logo is particularly complex, or contains colours that cannot be duplicated using the available 216 colour palette, you may have to utilize a .JPG version. A .GIF image can feature transparent backgrounds for use on different colour web pages (but may have a rough or 'jagged' edge). Can feature some colour shifting due to differences in various colour palettes from .EPS and JPGs Can also feature some 'pixelating' of certain colours as they are forced into a 216 colour palette. As .gif files are non-scalable, we'll also supply you with a variety of sizes, so that you can import your new logo directly into any web site without resizing.
Additional formats with complex repair & rush render packages
Our complex logo repair & rush render packages also include a number of additional versions of your logo, in all applicable formats, including black and white grayscale, black and white linear files, important to have on standby when colour reproduction is not available.

Black & white grayscale
A black and white grayscale version of your logo is a version that is made up of tones which are in turn made up from varying sizes of black dots. A grayscale version of your logo is suitable for BW print reproduction, resolution permitting. This version of your logo will be supplied in vector and bitmap formats.
Black & white linear
A black and white linear version of your logo is a version that is made up of solid black. There are no half-tones (screens) or grays. This is the best type of logo for use on low-resoluton reproduction. This version of your logo will be supplied in vector and bitmap formats.
